Frequently Asked Questions

Window Film

Info about all things window tint

What brand of window film do you use?

As a Llumar® SelectPro dealer, we only use LLumar's premium FormulaOne® window film.  We have been using LLumar® film for years, and continue to see excellent performance with very few warranty issues.  Yes, it does cost us more to use, but it is a product whose performance is consistently amazing.  This is how we can not only guarantee great results to our customers, but also provide our customers a limited warranty that extends to all shades of tint.

Will you install film that I purchase from another manufacturer?

We only use FormulaOne® High Performance Auto Tint by LLumar®.  We can only guarantee quality results by using film that is of premium quality.  We purchase our film directly from the manufacturer and we keep it in a clean, climate controlled setting to ensure the cleanest possible installation and longevity.

Is it legal to tint my car windows?

Tint laws vary by state. More information about Alabama’s tint laws can be found at www.alea.gov . It is essential to check your local laws before getting your windows tinted in order to avoid tickets or fines. As it is not illegal for us to install darker than legal films, we will not be liable for any fines incurred by illegal tint, and you will be charged the standard tint removal fee if you need to have it removed.

How long does installation take?

Most full-vehicle installations take about 1–3 hours, depending on the complexity of your car and our daily schedule. To make things easy, we recommend setting up an appointment so we can reserve the best time for you. You’re welcome to relax in our comfortable waiting area, or, if it’s more convenient, have someone drop you off—we’ll give you a call as soon as your vehicle is ready to roll.

How do I prepare my vehicle for the best installation?

Having your vehicle as clean as possible, both inside and out, will ensure the cleanest tint installation. It is best to remove personal items from seats, as windshield and back glass installations require us to get into your vehicle. Infant/child car seats should be removed as well. If we must remove them, we are not allowed to reinstall them for liability reasons.

How do I care for my window tint after installation?

As soon as your tint installation is complete, you’re free to roll your windows down—no waiting period! We’ve already tested them a few times before handing your car back. You may notice some water or haze in the film during the first few days; that’s completely normal and will evaporate on its own within 3–4 days. Please don’t try to squeegee or press it out. After that time, if you notice anything unusual, stop by and we’ll take care of it. And remember: only use ammonia-free cleaners.

Can I remove or change my window tint?

Yes, you can remove your tint. You could also run a marathon the day after your appendectomy, but is it worth it?  It is best to leave this to the professionals, as improper removal can result in damage to your glass or defroster lines. The glue left behind by old tint can be very challenging to remove. Many times when customers try to remove their tint, there is quite a bit of glue left behind which can result in additional fees due to increased labor time.

Do you offer a warranty?

Absolutely!  We offer a nationwide lifetime limited warranty on all legal FormulaOne® film through our manufacturer, Llumar®.  It is even transferrable to the next owner, and that is great news!  Additionally, at Auto Visions we believe in our film so much that we offer a free shop warranty on all shades of film in addition to the legal shades.  Both warranties cover manufacturing defects like peeling, extreme fading, and signs of glue failure like bubbling. Don't worry- we've got your back!

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Everything you ever wanted to know, and then some...

What is PPF and do I really need it?

PPF, or Paint Protection Film, is a clear urethane shield that defends your car’s paint from rock chips, scratches, bugs, and UV damage. Do you need it? If you want to keep that showroom look, protect your investment, or drive in conditions where your paint takes a beating, it’s worth every penny. If you’re leasing or don’t mind normal wear, you can skip it—but for long-term protection and resale value, PPF is hard to beat.

Is PPF the same as ceramic coating?

PPF (Paint Protection Film) and ceramic coating both protect your car, but in different ways. PPF is a thick, clear film that physically shields your paint, while ceramic coating is a liquid layer that bonds to your paint, adding gloss, UV protection, and making your car easier to clean—but it won’t stop rock chips or deep scratches. Our 12-year Valor PPF combines the benefits of both by delivering self-healing protection and super hydrophobic and self cleaning capabilities.

How long does PPF last, and does it affect the finish of my paint?

LLumar® Platinum PPF lasts 10 years, and LLumar® Valor PPF lasts 12 years, depending on care and driving conditions. Once installed, it’s nearly invisible and designed to enhance rather than change your car’s look (with the exception of matte PPF)—it won’t alter the color or finish. And if you ever decide to remove it, PPF comes off cleanly without damaging the paint underneath.

What areas can be covered with PPF?

PPF can be applied to high-impact areas like the hood, bumper, fenders, mirrors, and door edges—or you can cover the entire vehicle for maximum protection. We offer packages for a partial front, full front, and full vehicle.  While PPF can mask very minor imperfections, it won’t fix existing chips or scratches, so it’s best applied to OEM paint that’s already in good condition.

How do I maintain my PPF after installation?

Wash and wax as usual!

How long does installation take?

The installation time for PPF depends on how much of your vehicle is being covered. Smaller areas, like door cups, can be completed in just 1–2 hours. A full-vehicle installation, however, typically takes 4–5 days since larger, more complex panels need extra time to dry and fully adhere—especially to withstand highway speeds.

Is there a warranty for PPF?

LLumar® warrants professionally sold and applied LLumar® Paint Protection Film against cracking, bubbling or yellowing caused solely by defects in manufacture or materials. This limited warranty is valid only if the product application was performed by a LLumar installer in the United States or Canada in accordance with manufacturer’s application procedures and over OEM factory paint.
Our Platinum PPF has a 10-year warranty, and our Valor PPF has a 12-year warranty.

Custom Vinyl Wrap

Yes, you should totally change the color of your vehicle- just for fun!!

Why choose to wrap your vehicle?

Durability and peace of mind. High-quality films provide a durable finish that lasts up to 8 years. A product from 3M, a name you know and trust, paired with the most skilled installers and comprehensive warranty in the industry, will give you the confidence that you and your vehicle wrap will be protected.  Whether you simply want a color change or to spruce up an older vehicle, vinyl wrap is a great way to go!

How much does a wrap cost?

The cost of a car wrap depends on many different factors, primarily the size of the vehicle, coverage options and the specific wrap film you’d like to use. There isn’t a standard price tag for a high-quality, professional car wrap. Think of it like commissioning any work of art, the range in price can be huge, depending on your specifications. The best way to find out what a wrap would cost is to give us a call.  We can offer advice and a quote based on your desired outcome!

How long does the wrap take to install?

A full wrap can take 2-3 days for installation, and a partial wrap can take less.  We will be able to give you an accurate timeline at scheduling, so that you can prepare for your transportation needs while we give your vehicle some TLC.

Can I install the wrap myself?

As we mentioned in the PPF section, you could do it yourself.  You could also extract your own wisdom teeth, but do you really want that?  Each vehicle is different, and to ensure the quality, appearance and durability of your wrap, it is important that a trained and experienced installer complete the installation for you.  Save that Motrin for a different headache!

How long does vinyl wrap last?

With proper care, it will last 3-7 years.

How do I care for vinyl wrap film?

Car wrap film should receive the same care as car paint. Regular cleaning is vital, as dirt will get stuck to the vehicle. We recommend routine trips to a brushless car wash (with no hot wax or wax option) or, preferably, wash carefully by hand using a mild detergent with no additives such as wax. Dry thoroughly to avoid spotting.  *You will want to have a ceramic coating applied every 6 months to 1 year for ultimate protection. We will apply the first coating with your wrap.*

Will the wrap damage the finish of my car?

Removal within the wrap's warranty period is very unlikely to cause any damage. Areas that have been covered by the wrap material may in fact appear more vibrant and glossier having been protected from the elements by the wrap. However, poorly cured resprays are more vulnerable so always consult the installer if you have had a respray.  Also, wrap should be applied to paint in good condition, as chips will show through the texture of the wrap.  Professional removal is recommended.

Windshield Protection Film (WPF)

It's like PPF for your windshield!

What is WPF?

Clearshield WPF Windshield Protection Film keeps your windshield safe from life’s unexpected hazards. Its advanced, self-healing and optically clear film absorbs impacts from rock strikes and road debris while blocking 99% of UV rays to safeguard both you and your vehicle’s interior. For durability without compromising style, Clearshield WPF is the ultimate defense for a pristine and protected windshield, and is a small investment that can save thousands in repairs.

Why do I need WPF?

Repairing or replacing a cracked windshield isn’t as simple (or affordable) as it used to be. Modern vehicles rely on ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) components built into the glass, which means recalibration is required and can increase costs. Aftermarket glass may reduce resale value, void warranties, and compromise ADAS accuracy. Even with an OEM windshield, replacements can lead to fit and seal issues like leaks, wind noise, or reduced structural strength.

How do I care for my WPF after installation?

Aftercare is very simple!  Simply clean your windshield with a microfiber cloth and ammonia free products.  Since WPF is hydrophobic, you will want to avoid products like RainX as they can decrease the life of the film.  Ceramic coating every 2 months will keep it looking it's best!

Is there a warranty for WPF?

We certainly do!  We offer a 1-year/ 12,000 mile limited warranty which covers manufacturing defects like adhesive failure, bubbling, cracking/crazing, delamination, peeling, and yellowing.  Due to the nature of use, the warranty does not cover physical damage caused by impacts or normal wear and tear,  windshield wipers, pressure washing, or damage caused by other improper care.

Now you know as much as we do!

I highly recommend Auto Visions Tint. Awesome customer service! Very professional & super nice people. This was the best window tinting experience I’ve had!!
